Today, our team traveled to Ridgefield Academy to participate in the FTC CT Qualifier "Mountain Matchup."
We were excited to see so many familiar faces from the "Spook-tacular" Scrimmage and compete for the first time this season with our robot Orion! Starting the day off strong, we scouted teams while watching matches and filling out a worksheet Greg made for us. We were able to meet many teams with impressive robots!
Before the matches started, we were granted the exceptional opportunity to hear Toni Boucher, Connecticut State Senator, talk to us about the importance of STEAM in education and what it meant to her. Her speech was inspiring and everyone in the audience sang happy birthday to her!
We are grateful to be moving on to the State Championships after winning the Inspire Award. In addition, we were nominated for Think, Connect, and Motivate Awards and were on the finalist alliance. This was the first time we have seen the finals go to a fourth match, for there was a tie in match two! Congratulations to the winning alliance team 40 Hax, and team 8391 W-Prime Robotics.
Throughout the day, there were always people stationed at the pit to answer questions from judges, other teams, and a few spectators. It was awesome to interact and connect with so many teams from CT!
Overall, we had a great time at Mountain Matchup and we learned quite a bit! Thanks to all the parents, coaches, volunteers, and especially Evan and Pam Barnet for organzing the event.
